Crysse Morrison

I began my writing career with short stories, with over 50 now published in anthologies and magazines in the UK and abroad, and several broadcast on radio. My two novels, Frozen Summer (1999, paperback 2000) and Sleeping in Sand, (2000, paperback 2001) were both published with Hodder & Stoughton. I also have an anthology of short stories and poems, titled Are We Nearly There Yet?

When I became ‘Writer in Residence’ for my home-town of Frome in 2005 I started various community projects, including a Poetry Cafe. I now perform at poetry events in the southwest, and continue to organise events involving poetry and performance.

Recently I revisited my interest in stage drama, writing short plays on adult themes which were produced in Bristol in 2009. My most recent play Love Bites goes into professional production in May 2010. I also have an interest in drama for children, and write for First Cut Theatre Company, which creates original performances for early years.

Creative and personal writing is my main interest but I have also published a large number of articles, and contribute a regular monthly style column in Writing Magazine and theatre reviews for Plays International.

Residential courses/workshops:

I have been leading residential courses and writing holidays every year for over ten years, mostly abroad, including: Turkey, Tuscany, Chile, Thailand, France, and several Greek islands. In UK I lead shorter workshops in the Cotswolds and the Isle of Wight. I believe these beautiful environments, and a change of location in itself, can inspire new opportunities to discover personal creativity, and with guidance these inspirations can become part of the participants way of life. My creative writing courses are for writers of any experience, or none.
