Tree Planting

Cortijo Romero's Tree Project project has already planted nearly 2500 trees in the mountains, most of which are surviving well. A team of volunteers also planted an avenue of more mature trees along the banks of the small river near to Cortijo Romero, greatly improving the amenity of the area. November 14th-21s, 2009 is the next opportunity for a cheap holiday helping with the project in a great community atmosphere. This event is being held off-site this year at Jordi Jutglar's farm.

You can also compensate for the carbon dioxide produced by your flight to any holiday, by paying the offset cost into the project: £3 - £4 for the return trip.

Four years after we started our project,  the local governments for our area set up their own scheme. Naturally, they were able to do it on a much larger scale than we can, so we were delighted that they took up the challenge and planted a further 12,000 trees. Unfortunately, their contractors did not do such a thorough job as our volunteers and the survival rate of the trees they planted has been poor.

Our project will retain a broader focus and we hope that the organisers of its spin-offf charity, Trevor Taylor and  Jordi Jutglar, will continue to innovate and demonstrate new ways of protecting and enhancing the environment.

People Say…

"A major breakthrough in my life. Afterwards, I could feel that something had changed within the core of my being. I found myself responding quite differently to people and situations. It opened a doorway for me to open to love and be loved…"
